Going Live

by Mark Blaine last modified 2009-05-29 11:10

The bigger than life, scratch-and-sniff version

Pretty much every post I've made this term has been about multi-platform stuff and connectivity—computery blah, blah, blah. But let's not forget that one of our platforms is live, direct experience. You can see it today in the third-floor hallway (sort of an unintended heaven and hell theme) featuring one of Thomas Martinez's cage fighters and Kelli Curtis's image of Andiel Brown snapping his fingers while wearing a gospel robe. The cage fighter has already drawn a few comments and the IT folks are pretty excited to have it be over their door (perhaps as a warning to all students who eat or drink in the computer labs...). We will also take delivery of the magazines and have them here tomorrow. The physical experience of holding the magazine is amazing, and I've always loved the moment when you first rip into the boxes and smell the ink. That's a moment that the web will never provide.
