Time

What is time??? And why does it fly so fast?

Time is an odd idea. It doesn't techincally exist; it was created by humans to organize and control things.

Time is a huge contributor to the stress we feel as journalists. Deadlines that aren't met impose a feeling of anxiety and panic. While still in school, it just means someone is going to get annoyed with you. In the real world, it could cost you a job.

What boggles me the most about the idea of time is that separate things that have the same time duration can seem completely different. For example, 10 weeks to finish my classes seems like an ample amount of time. But 10 weeks to graduate seems so soon. Starting a paper five minutes earlier makes no difference, but having an extra five minutes to finish it makes all the diffrerence.

We were discussing at an editorial meeting how we aren't "lazy students" and that when we spend time just sitting on the couch or resting, it seems wasted. Well, I heard a quote recently from John Lennon: "Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted." I absolutely love this quote because I get so overwhwlmed with all my committments that sometimes I don't even get to enjoy my hobbies. Sometimes, all I need is to just sit on my couch, read a magazine, and watch TV. To me, that is never time wasted.
